Wetter
Sunny, chilly weather. 7 to 8°C. After sunset and at night very cold, around zero. Light northerly winds.
Beschaffenheit
The second day of the Iron Curtain's third part, the six stages from Riga to Tallinn. Yesterday I camped 17 km short of my stage goal on the shore of lake Astere, and thus I did not make my stage goal of Paernu today, where I had planned to camp on a camp site in the town. Instead I stayed in nature near the coast near the village of Uulu.

Reisebericht
Text message, May, 12, at 17.03: Hi followers. Good-bye to Latvia and hello to Estonia. Have just had coffee and I'm ready to cross the border. I didn't have a look at Limbazi. After a restless night without much sleep and warmth I slept somewhat longer in the morning. And, mind, I have a long stage today. I'm only just past half way after some more hours in en huge lengthy sand box, which they call main road P 12 here. Oh, Latvia, your roads hit rock bottom, and so does, admittedly, my route planning at home. But a hooray for your beautiful coastal landscapes, peace and quietness, nice cities like Ventspils and Riga and your friendly and helpful people. See you again. And I'll get back to you from Estonia tonight. God knows, how far I'll make it. Hardly to Paernu. Linguistically I now leave the Baltic area with Lithuanian and Lettish and enter the Finno-Ugric with Estonian and later Finnish. Interrupted by a week in the big Slavonic mother land to the East. Happy, but tired bike regards from Helmuth. PS. Do I have to mention the head wind? I guess, no. Sigh ...
