Beschaffenheit
The third stage of the Iron Curtain Tour's third part from Riga to Tallinn. The stage was 13 km longer than planned due to a shorter distance yesterday, but I made the plannen goal at Paatsalu today. I booked an indoor accomodation at the holiday centre, though, at the tourist information in Paernu due to the cold and my insufficiently warm sleeping bag.

Reisebericht
Text message, May, 13, at 9.54: Good morning, dear faithful followers. The headwind soon settled and I reached a point 13 km before Paernu yesterday, by means of a self cooked dinner of roasted potato slices and sausages on the pan along with cucumber pieces, eaten in sunshine, like always. The sun has shone almost all day long all days since my start. Incredibly lucky. My tent I pitched beautifully down to the sea, so I had my evening swim. But, ugh, how was I cold afterwards and all night long, actually. Brr. I'm going to buy me a new sleeping bag in Haapsalu the day after tomorrow. This one is not geared for temperatures around zero. Or I'm getting more sensitive to cold with the years. On my North Cape trip in 2010 it was also cold, but no freezing at night there. This morning I fell with my legs into a river, when I wanted to wash my hands in it. Tough luck. Now my clothes and shoes are drying in the sun. When I'm ready, I'll go into Paernu and have a quick look at what is called Estonias summer capital. And then on to the holiday centre of Paatsalu. I fancy a warm cabin there. If it's open. The season has barely started here. Wish me luck. There's almost no wind, and thank you for that. On the good Estonian roads I should make it to Paatsalu in reasonable time. You'll read from me from there then. A nice Saturday to everybody. Your cold friend Helmuth.
