Landscape

Die Tour führt von der betriebsamen Nordsee-und Hafenstadt durch die abwechselungsreiche friesische Landschaft. Von der Nordseeküste mit ihren malerischen Sielhäfen bis ins saftig-grüne Binnenland, vorbei am UNESCO-Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer, durch den Neuenburger Urwald und in die liebliche Gartenlandschaft der Geest. Unterwegs gibt es so manches Kleinod zu entdecken: mittelalterliche Backsteinkirchen, voll funktionsfähige Windmühlen und das im Stil der niederländischen Renaissance erbaute Wasserschloss Gödens.

Das Schloss Gödens ist ein Wasserschloss in der Gemeinde Sande Wikipedia Icon im Landkreis Friesland in Niedersachsen.

Ein Vorgängerbau des heutigen Schlosses brannte 1669 ab. Harro Burchard von Frydag ließ 1671 das Wasserschloss in seiner jetzigen Form errichten. 1746 kam Gödens durch Heirat in den Besitz der Familie von Wedel. Der Außenbau präsentiert sich im Stil der holländischen Renaissance. Sehenswert ist die deckenhohe malerische Ausschmückung des Prunksaals mit Darstellungen aus der griechischen Mythologie. Die bis heute bewohnte Burg wird von der Stiftung Kulturerbe Schloss Gödens verwaltet und ist nur bei Veranstaltungen teilweise zu besichtigen. Der Schlosspark ist dagegen frei zugänglich. Das Eingangstor zum Schlosspark weist einige Inschriften aus dem Jahr 1653 auf. Das Schloss steht unter Denkmalschutz.
