Character
Planned 3-day bike holiday. Will be ridden spring 2016. Alone with tent and cooking gear. By train/bus to Rudkoebing. From there on bike routes across the islands of Langeland and Lolland (through the town centres of Nakskov, Maribo and Sakskoebing) to Nykoebing Falster, where my first place of accomodation is. Then two days of touring around the island of Falster, which is the main purpose of the bike trip. The island is circumnavigated clockwise with the Northern half of Falster on my programme the first day. First comes the beautiful stretch along the Guldborg sound, which I called 'Denmark at its fairest' on my three-day spring trip 2015 "Copenhagen-Nykoebing F", and which ends at Guldborg. Then follows a more hilly stretch to Vaalse bay and then directly east to Northern Falster's main town of Stubbekoebing. The last part of the northern stretch passes Groensund with nice views towards the island of Moen and then through the large coastal forests of northeastern Falster with a short visit at the manor of Corselitze. From here it's not far to the second night's stay at the campsite of Ulslev beach. The last day is characterized by the long sandy beaches along the Baltic sea at Boetoe and Marielyst. Before the whole of Denmark terminates at Gedser point. Here I'm going to stand on the southernmost spot of Denmark, which makes it a counterpart to the Skagen Gren. Having pedaled through the very small town of Gedser I head north back to Nykoebing F (the town name normally comes with its defining "F", as two other Nykoebings exist in Denmark, respectively with an "M" (for Mors) and an "S" (for Sjælland (Zealand))), again along the delectable Guldborg sound. Alas, here it's not as near and the last piece into Nykoebing is densely populated. In Nykoebing itself I immediately set a western course across the bridge and postehaste to the last place of accomodation at a B&B at Vaabensted, having once again passed the small town centre of Sakskoebing. The day after remains only the trip home by bus from the bus stop at Vaabensted.

Landscape
Flat landscape across Langeland and Lolland. Along the Guldborg sound, the water between the islands of Lolland and Falster, with delightful woods, avenues and manors. Hills on Northern Falster. Old town atmosphere in Stubbekoebing. Large forests and more manors (visit at Corselitze) on Eastern Falster. Flat coastal meadows and lively beach life on Southern Falster. Denmark's southernmost point at Gedser point. Back to the main town of Nykoebing Falster again along the Guldborg sound. Across the bridge to Lolland and along the main road (bike lane) to Sakskoebing. The tour terminates at Vaabensted, halfway between Sakskoebing and Maribo.

Remarks
The bike holiday Around Falster was postponed twice. First time in the late summer of 2015 due to a crash on my bike, second time in April 1016 due to cold weather and me having caught a cold.

Nykøbing Falster (originally named Nykøbing) is a southern Danish city, seat of the Guldborgsund kommune. It belongs toRegion Sjælland.
The city has a few noteworthy buildings, including a wooden house from 1580 and The Czar's House (Czarens Hus), which was built in 1700 and is probably the most famous monument in Nykøbing Falster. The latter building was named Czarens Hus in memory of Peter the Great, who stayed there in 1716.
Among the other interesting monuments in Nykøbing Falster, there is a 15th century castle with a medievalsiege-train. City inhabitants often walk in a people's park with an adjacent zoological garden.
Other attractions include:
- the City Museum (Bymuseet)
- the Old Shop (Den gamle butik).
