Weather
At last the sun was out again. After a cloudy morning it became a fine day. Light to moderate side- and headwind.
Properties
Some trouble getting out of the city of Jyväskylä. Lost my way once. I could just have continued up the road where the hostel was, but I saw that only later. Poor map reading! In the village of Uurainen I experience a tarmaced bike lane next to a gravel road. Way to go! Beautiful, quiet roads to Saarijärvi. The last part on a good bike lane at some distance to the main road. After dinner a quiet road through a large nature reserve. Miss a turning point and make a detour, which helps me finding a splendid camp spot on the shores of a lake by way of a bad earth path.
Remarks
The third Finnish part, the four-day-stretch from Jyväskylä to Oulu, about 400 km, begins with a nice stage to a camp spot in the nature near the small village of Huopanankoski. Had my lunch at a small water fall in Tikkakoski. Some headwind and uphill going afterwards. Coffee break in Uurainen. Excellent weather in the evening and I go one for quite long, as the sun shines until about 11. Go especially fast after dinner at a pizzeria in Saarijärvi and a big ice cream on the market place. Through the nature reserve of Pyhä-Häkki. Very lonely trip. The shin splints are getting better already. The tent was pitched on a summer house (mökki) plot on the lakeside. I ring the door bell, but nobody is at home. Incredibly beautiful evening out there.
