Cycle Tour Bike trip to the North Cape

The quiet grey weather of yesterday continues. In the evening and night it cleared up and beautiful midnight sun at the North Cape! But it's cold.

Further on the main road to the North Cape. The North cape tunnel was a real challenge due to traffic, bad air and a steep ascent the last half. But then it was free for me. On the island of Mageroeya there was more traffic, but still a good tarmac road. Managed two tough climbs here. Paid entrance fee for cyclists to the North Cape.

It's done! A month of fantastic bike trip is released with my arrival on the North Cape. In lovely sunshine at about 10 pm. But a tough stage it was. First calmly further up along the Porsangen. Lunch in the tundra with a view to the Svaerholt peninsula on the other side of the fiord. Then a moderate climb and a hairpin bend into the mainland. A break near a bridge cross a river in order to catch my breath for the feared North cape tunnel, which is the only way to come to the island of Mageroeya, on which the North Cape lies. A terrible experience. Afterwards it was nice in the sun, having coffee at a lay-by on the other side of it. The Honningsvaag-tunnel was easy enough. I was interviewed by a young Norwegian journalist in an old 'round' VW. Bought supplies for a barbecue "party" on the Cape at Rema in Honningsvaag. On the way out of town I meet with Charles and go along with him for a while, but he overtakes me on the first of two tough climbs. On the first I think, I'm already on my way up to the North Cape plateau. But that climb starts only after Skarsvaag and is even worse. But now I have reached my goal. I pitch my tent besides the big hall and have a small barbecue alone in my tent. At midnight I stand, together with many others, by the famous globe and enjoy the midnight sun. Fetching.
