Travel report
From the Chambres d'Hôtes it is a small dangling through the village to the entrance to the cycle path on the canal. The first kilometers were the houses of Moissac still perceptible, after another half kilometer, we are at the 350-meter-long canal bridge over the Tarn.
Then we cycled again along the canal for many kilometers. The rows of trees along the canal are less dense in the first section or nonexistent over longer distances. Instead, we perceived more of the buildings and nature on both sides of the canal. In the further course, the plane trees are often on one side only. They are numbered along the canal. When we first realized this, it was at number P33189.
We decided not to make the detour to Montauban to have more time in the afternoon for Toulouse.
After 65 kilometers we arrived at the end of the canal "Canal latéral à la Garonne". It has provided a good access to the metropolitan area of Toulouse on the last few kilometers, without motorized traffic we have reached the edge of the old town. Well done!!
The last 3.5 kilometers were along the "Canal du Midi". However, this piece is more a bike path on the inner-city streets than along the canal.

Our ** hotel was simple but clean and had very dedicated service staff. The bikes were stored in a small courtyard. We had to take them through the relatively narrow front door and along a corridor past the reception. But they were safe.
The hotel is exactly one kilometer from the Place du Capitole. East of the town hall, the Donjon stands out first. It was built in the 16th century as a municipal archive (Tour des Archives). Today it houses the Tourist Information. The town hall (Capitole) has a width of 135 meters and thus occupies almost the entire width of the Place du Capitole. In the town hall the state rooms can be visited free of charge.

Our next destination was the Basilica Saint-Sernin. It is the largest preserved Romanesque church in France. In its external design and even more inside, this church is very impressive.

The former Dominican monastery Les Jacobins we were not able to visit (rest day).
On the 6th floor of the Lafayette department store is a restaurant area with roof terrace. From there we had a nice view over of the roofs of the old town.
Finally we stood in front of the already closed gates of the Cathédrale Saint-Étienne. Here we want to stop by again the next morning.
