Properties
In the morning we dry our clothes, that we've been washing the evening before, in bushes and on our bikes - visit at Utah Beach museum with outdoor effects and the beach itself - we go away from the coast road to a Danish war memorial in honour of seamen taking part in D-day operations and Sante-Marie-du-Mont, which is the main town for the parachuters June 6, 1944 - we go by their museum because of lack of time. Every unit of every participating countrys armed forces seem to have their own D-day museum! - through the somewhat dull town of Carentan - lunch at Isigny-sur-Mer (croque monsieur) - nice tailwind to the German soldier cemetary of La Cambe - at Pointe du Hoc the visitor centre is already closed, but we go for a good stroll past pillboxes and bomb craters to the memorial for the US Rangers' act of heroism here - short trip to the camp site of Omaha Beach camping high above the beach - a short look at the many outdoor objects of a small museum here with original landing craft and canons - in the evening we go for a walk down to the beach and have a luxurious meal with dessert at a restaurant with a spectacular view of the empty sea bottom, which was covered by the sea while we ate. Peculiar sight. Eight vertical meters difference between low and high tide!
