Travel report

We have to push our bikes for the first few meters from the hotel; Piazza Erminio Ferretto is a pedestrian zone.
Then we're soon on bike lanes next to the road and cycle northeast out of the city. After a quarter of an hour, we've reached the "green" area. We cycle through the plains on narrow, quiet roads and bike lanes.
The landscape has little to offer.

In Qurato D'Altino, we reach the Sile River. Along its banks, the bike path runs on a compacted path. Occasionally, we have to duck under branches.
Ducks and swans populate the river and banks. In Casale, we have a view across the Sile to the town's church. Then the narrow, bush-lined path returns with occasional views of the river.

At Silea, things get a bit more varied with a villa on the opposite bank and a wooden footbridge leading over the water. Cycling is not permitted, however; signs encourage you to push your bike.

After another kilometer along the riverside path along the Sile, the suburbs of Treviso begin.
At the Bastione di Santa Sofia, we reach the city walls of Treviso. We cycle along the Sile to the Ponte San Martino and along smooth cobblestone streets through the old town to the hotel.
We can swtore our bikes in a locked utility room.
Since we arrived at the hotel at 2:00 p.m., we have a long afternoon to explore the old town.
The cathedral is just a few minutes from the hotel. Next to it is the Baptistery of San Giovanni, much older than the current cathedral.
From the cathedral, we walk to Piazza del Signori. There, we find the city administration buildings (Prefettura) and the Palazzo dei Trecento. We treat ourselves to an Aperol Spritz in the arcades of the palazzo.
After a detour to Piazza Borsa, we walk down to the Sile and stroll along the riverbank to the Passerella Onigo. From there, we walk through the alleys back to Piazza del Signori. North of there, we come to the Canale dei Buranelli, one of the waterways in the old town, which gives Treviso its nickname "Città dell'Acqua." Arcades, bridges, water. And outdoor dining is everywhere in the old town, mostly bars, but also a wide selection of restaurants. Very beautiful and pleasant.
