After one kilometer on the road in Serravalle, we turn left up a residential street. 30 meters in elevation higher, we have a wide view over the valley. Half a kilometer further on, we are back down in the valley on the SS51.

From there, we turn another kilometer further onto a narrow side road that leads us to Lago del Restello. From the lakeshore, the route leads back to the SS51, where we stay for the next four kilometers. There is no bike lane, but traffic is light.

We then roll down the side road to Lago Morto, losing 40 meters in elevation. From the bridge at the upper end of the lake, we have a beautiful view back over the green-blue waters of the lake. We then cycle up the switchbacks back to the SS51. Another climb follows until we reach Faldato.

A good half a kilometer further on, there's a magnificent view of Lake Santa Croce and the peaks beyond.

The SP423 descends to Poiatte. Here, we deviate from the Munich-Venice cycle route and instead take the Via Regia route. This leads along a narrow path beautifully along the lakeshore.

At Farra d'Alpago, we return to the Munich-Venice cycle route. We pass through a forest to reach Bastia. The route then continues alongside a narrow canal. From the secondary road, we join a cycle path, which we follow until Soverzene.

The path climbs up into the village via switchbacks, and then continues uphill through the village. A cycle path begins behind the industrial estate, running alongside the road to Provagna. At Provagna, there's another step to climb.

We cycle gently downhill on the road to Codissago. The route leads into the town center and continues to the bridge over the Piave River. After the bridge, the road winds up to Castellavazzo. Halfway up, the cycle route turns right and continues as a cycle path along the valley floor. This path then climbs gently until it runs alongside the SS51. After this branch off into the tunnel, the route reaches the old road, which we follow until Perarolo. Motorized traffic is rare, and the gradient is moderate.

Climb behind Perarolo

The climb to Pieve begins in Perarolo. First, we ride up the side road in switchbacks until just before the SS51. 175 meters of elevation gain with a 5% gradient. This is followed by two kilometers with only a 2% gradient. In Sottocastello, a challenging section begins: 800 meters with a gradient of almost 12%.

Then, across Piazza Tizano, it's just a few meters to the hotel. There's a well-equipped storage room for our bicycles.
