Cycle Tour Veneto – Tyrol – Swabia

We cycle the first three kilometers on narrow side roads. After that, we're almost entirely on a cycle path near the street B2 until we reach Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In Partenkirchen and Garmisch, we pass through the historic town centers.

We continue cycling on local roads until Untergrainau. Then there is a cycle path again, running close to the B23. It's paved and easy to ride as far as Griesen. A section follows, a little further away from the main road. Here we cycle through wooded terrain on a compacted, partly slightly gravelly surface. Beyond Schanz, we cross to the west side of the main road. Here the cycle path is newly paved and runs slightly above the valley floor along the hillside.

Before Ehrwald, the valley widens, and the Mieming Range stretches out before us.

We continue cycling on flat terrain around the golf course to Lermoos. From here, we are on the Via Claudia Agusta. In Lermoos, we have a short, steep climb. From here, we have the Zugspitze massif with its imposing western flank in front of us.

Beyond Gries, the cycle path leads up the Lussbach Valley on a narrow side road. At Lähn, we cross the highest point of the day's stage at 1,130 meters. After 2.5 hours of uphill cycling, we can now descend to Heiterwang, albeit with a few short uphill sections.

Beyond Heiterwand, you have to cycle uphill for 60 meters before a fairly steep descent on an asphalt road to the Ehrenberger Klause.

A good 100 meters above us, we see visitors walking across the highline179 at dizzying heights on its metal grid structure. With a span of 406 meters, it was one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world when it was completed in 2014. Directly above us, users of the DragonFly zipline slide down the mountain on a 600-meter-long steel cable.

We continue cycling through the fortress, documented since 1317, which once blocked the valley and the road. A little further on, we turn off the road onto a forest path that leads steeply down into the valley. The surface is quite slippery in places due to gravel and scree, so caution is advised.

Once we reach the Lech Valley, we cycle on a flat section. In the center of Reutte, the cycle route uses the busy main road for 600 meters. We continue through the lower market square, where there are several outdoor dining options.

We cycle along side roads to Pflach. There is one last hill just beyond the village. After that, the path remains on the valley floor of the Lech Valley and continues to Füssen, away from the road, via Pinswag.
