Travel report

We set off from Füssen in light rain. We cycled alongside the B16 for a good three kilometers, then turned off and reached the shore of Lake Forggensee. The rain had stopped. But the opposite shore of the lake was still shrouded in the last wisps of mist from the clearing clouds. Neuschwanstein Castle stood out as a bright spot against the darkness of the surrounding forests.
We cycled northwards near the lake for seven kilometers.
In Rosshaupten, we had to take a small detour due to mowing work.
Near Bischofswang, we came to a former railway line, which we followed to Marktoberdorf. The weather had deteriorated again; it was raining lightly. We made a detour into the town center, but in this weather, we were quickly back on track.
We arrived in Kaufbeuren damp and chilled. Here, we found a replacement for the broken rearview mirror in a sports shop. We found a café near the Salzmarkt (Salt Market). After cappuccino and cake, we cycled a loop through the town center.

Then we continue eastward. Soon we rejoin a former railway line, which we follow to Helmishofen. We cycle on along quiet roads to Leeder. Now we're back in the Lech valley. The route descends gently for the last fifteen kilometers to Landsberg.
Our hotel is located north of the old town. Luckily, we find someone already there; the reception doesn't open for another two hours. The bicycles are locked in a container, and after the damp, chilly day, we look forward to a hot shower.
We have plenty of time to explore the beautiful old town. The parish church of the Assumption of Mary is well worth seeing. Unfortunately, we missed visiting the Church of the Holy Cross.
