Radtour Englische Kanal-Rundfahrt

In the morning a little rain, but then a glorious day and again very hot, also muggy. We felt the threat of a thunderstorm, but it stayed nearly dry. In the evening it chilled considerably. The wind was again easterly, thus still tailwind.

We followed route No 2 all day. Between Dover and Folkstone on a beautiful nature path through meadows above the famous white cliffs. After Folkstone briefly on the promenade, then along an old military canal followed by quiet roads through Romney Marsh. A good bike path to the coast, then somewhat exposed to traffic. The last stretch into Rye across a huge meadow with sheep. Beautiful, but cumbersome nature path with gates between Rye and Winchelsea. We pitched our tents on a nature camp site on the outskirts of Winchelsea.

My bike chain snapped about halfway between Dover and Folkstone, so I had to wheel the bike, was pushed by Kolya and rolled myself into town, where we found a bike repair shop.
