Radtour Radurlaub am Rhein und nach Amsterdam

In the morning overcast, later a lot of sun and fairly warm. In the evening a massive thunderstorm with heavy rains. Light headwind, which we felt at times on the fairly long stage.

It's hard to follow the route into Duisburg, as I had made our own shortest possible route. From the city centre via the huge river port we made better progress. We shorten the route several times, as the Rhine winds in long bends, which we don't want to follow. From Rheinberg we ride on the good tarmac and well signposted path on the Rhine-dike again. Between Xanten and the campsite we ride on gravel paths along big lakes. Otherwise mostly tarmac. 

The fifth stage of the bike holiday and the second of the four-day-stretch from Cologne to Rotterdam. We're forced on a 8 km detour due to the missing ferry at Kaiserswerth. The first of three long (plus 90 km) stages in a row.
