Radtour zum Nordkapp

Sunny and warm all day long. Almost no wind.

Relatively short stage into Oulu. The first part on a quiet road to Temmes, where it ends into highway No 4. From here on a following minor road. Where it ended, I had to make a little detour, as I was not willing to ride in the heavy traffic on the highway. Where highways 4 and 8 meet, the motorway begins, and I was able to ride on the former main road without problems. South of Kempele the bike path system of Oulu takes over, and I was led safely into the city of Oulu. Spent some time finding the address 12, Ketokatu, which is on a residential street south of the city centre.

The last stage of the four-day-stretch between Jyväskylä and Oulu. My Finnish hosts Ritva-Leena and Raimo served breakfast for me and then I was on the road again. The goal of the stage was my Finnish friend Pekka's home in Oulu, where I was to stay for two nights. After my lunchbreak in the woods I made a short stop at the wooden church at Temmes, which I also saw from the inside. Coffee break at a high way cafeteria. I can almost not feel the shin splints any longer. It was lovely to arrive at Pekka's house and enjoy sauna, dinner and socializing with my new friends.
