Landscape

Wenige km weiter nördlich erschließt der Radweg weite Teile der Emscherpark-Landschaft mit Siedlungen, Wäldchen, Brachen, dem Rhein-Herne-Kanal. Der naturnahe Umbau des Emscher-Systems lässt sich an vielen Stellen beobachten. Zugleich ist die Tour gespickt mit Höhepunkten der Industriekultur: Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord, Halde Hoheward und Zeche Ewald, Schleusenpark Henrichenburg, Colani-Ei, ex-Zeche Waltrop mit dem Manufaktum-Kaufhaus, Nordsternpark, umgestalteter Innenhafen Duisburg etc.

Abwechselungsreich und spannend durch die Parklandschaft des zentralen Ruhrgebietes von Dortmund über Bochum, Essen, zum Hafen Duisburg. Etwa 80% der Strecke autofrei, teils an Bächen und oft über umgenutzte Eisenbahntrassen. Viele der bekannten Industriekultur-Highlights liegen direkt am Weg, z.B. Weltkulturerbe Zollverein, Kokerei Hansa, Erzbahntrasse, Maximilianpark. Minimale Steigungen und Gefälle.
