In the morning Thomas and I had a dip in the river Isar, and after a "rolling start" by means of a commuter train the bike holiday itself began in Grosshelfendorf.

Here we quickly made for the river Mangfall by way of a gentle hill. After a good homemade lunch in the village of Westerham we followed this river down to Rosenheim. Here we turned south and went along the river Inn, which is the Danube's largest tributary into Austria. Before we reached the border we had a coffee break in the beautiful Bavarian village of Neubeuern. In Kufstein we shopped for supper on the campsite some 5 km further.

Here Alexander and Simon acted cooks an served the traditional first stage menu: Pasta with meat sauce. Unfortunately, it rained and kept doing so for the rest of the night. Even more unfortunately, the water trickled into my tent and wetted my sleeping bag, even on the inside!
