Character
Einfache Tour die ich mit meiner Familie (Kinder 13 + 15 Jahre alt) gemacht habe. Ich habe sie von West nach Ost gemacht da tendenziell Westwind herrscht.
Zuerst folgt sie dem Loire Radweg bis Digoin, dann nach Mulhouse, vor dort nach Basel und am Rhein entlang zum Rheinfall.
Landschaftlich sehr schön. Je weiter man sich von den Touristenzentren entfernt (Meer) desto miserabler werden die Unterkünfte. Am Nachmittag schliessen die Lokale, so dass an ein kühles Getränk nicht zu denken ist. Wir hatten auch teilweise mühe am Abend was zu essen zu finden da nur Getränke ausgeschenkt wurden. Richtung Elsass wird es dann wieder besser.
Im Landesinneren sind die Gebäude in miserablem Zustand. Abbröckelnde Fassaden, etwas Farbe täte gut.

Travel to and from ...
Mit dem TGV von Zürich nach Paris, dann mit Regionalbahnen nach Saint Nazaire. In den Regionalbahnen war es kein Problem die Velos zu transportieren. Pro Wagen konnten 2 Velos untergebracht werden. Es hat bei der Wagentüre eine Fäche (für Koffer nehme ich an). Da kann man die Velos abstellen. Passt nicht optimal, es geht aber.

Bus number 317 between the station of Saint-Nazaire and Saint-Brevin.
It is possible to attach up to eight bikes to the back of the bus, and the trip takes a quarter of an hour.

The 3.3-kilometer long Saint-Nazaire bridge can be used with bicycles. However, there is no safe bike lane on the bridge and cyclists need to use a narrow side strip which has been divided in hindsight by markers from the lanes of motorized traffic.
Alternative:
Cross the Loire by taxi. Since 2015 Saint Nazaire taxi drivers have offered a new service, “20 minutes for 20€”. This is a fixed price and it’s good for 4 people and 4 bikes. The service also operates in both directions, and reservations are also required. But with the taxi service, transport is available within 20 minutes after your reservation request.
