EuroVelo 14 Waters of Central Europe is launched

Date: 28 Aug 2020

The EuroVelo 14 is a long-distance cycle route over 730 kilometers that crosses two countries: Austria and Hungary. It represents an important east-west connection. The route is connected to the EuroVelo routes 7 Sun Route, 9 Baltic – Adriatic and 13 Iron-Curtain-Trail. Its name refers to the fact that it connects several important waterways - rivers, lakes and spas - located in Central Europe.

In Austria, EuroVelo 14 connects several existing cycle paths along important rivers, including the Tauern Cycle Route, Enns Valley Cycle Route and Mur Cycle Route. In Hungary, the national cycle route with the EV14 is the same route. In Hungary, the route leads through the Zala valley and passes Lake Balaton and Lake Velence.

The extension of the route through Budapest and on to Debrecen (within Hungary) – is currently under development and is expected to be realised over the next years.

The EV14 is described on biroto as »EuroVelo: Waters of Central Europe« with a length of 734 km.

The official announcement can be found on the EuroVelo portal under »EuroVelo 14 - Waters of Central Europe joins the EuroVelo network«.
