Radtour zum Nordkapp

Cold weather and a fresh breeze from the West. Overcast with only very little sunshine.

No cycling due to the broken rear wheel bearing!

As I had totally forgotten about my problems with the rear wheel, I pack my bike ready for today's stage. But the rear wheel is stuck! I dissemble it and bring it into the house, where the balls roll out of the bearing and onto the floor. I'm in deep shit. The landlord suggests, I take the bus to the local town of Lakselv, where there is a sports shop with bicycle department. Hope rises anew! But it goes only in the evening. So I have a rest day at the mountain resort. Chat with an elderly Austrian couple, who have just been on the North Cape by car. The friendly landlord makes the bus driver come right into the driveway of the house. Mind, I'm totally immobile today. Terrific bus driver! He takes me and my bike wreckage the 125 km to Lakselv, where I had planned to cycle. We pass the Boerselv mountains. Not nearly as strenuous as the Ifjord ones, but I can do without them. And the head wind. I'm kind of sad not being able to bike, though. In Lakselv i check into a strange camp site. Open, but without a bathing possibility. Urrgh!
