Weather
Fog! Really a pity, because the North Cape is not the same in fog. Later it lifted somewhat, but not alltogether. It stayed cold and clammy.
Properties
No biking.
Remarks
A celebration on the North Cape! I have company by other North cape cylists, a dad with his daughter from Switzerland and a French guy, who has cycled all the way from Southern France. On top of that, no more no less than my own mother. We give each other a big hug and feel the greatness of meeting on the very North Cape. Like I'm at home, I show 'Mutti' around the things worth seeing. Unfortunately, everything is covered in thick fog. I really appreciate the midnight sun the night before, and I show Mutti some photographs of it. We have a beer and watch a movie together in the North Cape Hall. Afterwards Mutti returns by bus to Honningsvaag, where she is to check into a hotel for two nights, and where I arrive the next day. A planned hike to the real northernmost point of Europe, the Knivskjellodden, a few kilometres to the West is cancelled due to the poor weather. It's simply too dangerous, and dreary, in the mist. In stead I enjoy myself with my new bike companions on the North Cape. We picht our tents in a small camp and have a fabulous buffet for dinner in the North Cape Restaurant. Here's to us!
