Neudenau ist eine Stadt im Heilbronner Land und liegt am Unterlauf der Jagst.
Hintergrund
Neudenau wurde erstmals 1251 urkundlich erwähnt, kam 1365 in den Besitz von Kurmainz und blieb es bis 1802. Im Jahr 1806 wurde es badisch. Der Ortsteil Herbolzheim existiert etwa seit dem 7. Jahrhundert und hat eine ähnliche Geschichte. Siglingen wurde um 800 gegründet, kam 1308 an die Herren von Weinsberg, wurde 1445 kurze Zeit kurpfälzisch und 1504 württembergisch. Durch die Gemeindereform kam es 1975 zum Zusammenschluss der Gemeinden als Stadt Neudenau.
Sehenswürdigkeiten
- Das ⊙Schloss Neudenau ging 1871 in den Besitz der Stadt Neudenau über, wurde zunächst als Schulhaus umgebaut und ist seit 1961 Heimatmuseum. Geöffnet: geöffnet Apr-Sept So 14-17 Uhr und n.V. Preis: Eintritt 2€.
- Die ⊙Pfarrkirche St. Laurentius wurde 1741 im spätbarocken Stil erbaut. Die letzten Renovierungsarbeiten fanden 1990 ihren Abschluss.
- Der Neudenauer Marktplatz ist umringt von Fachwerkhäusern, darunter das ⊙Rathaus von 1587 und sein rechtes Nachbargebäude von 1631. Der Marktbrunnen wurde 1828 und 1991 renoviert.
- Die gesamte Altstadt von Neudenau ist reich an historischen Fachwerkbauten bis zurück ins 15. Jahrhundert, darunter das Sturmfeder‘sche Haus von 1479 bei der Kelter.
- Auch Teile der ⊙mittelalterlichen Stadtmauer mit Wehrtürmen sind erhalten.
