Die Anlage besteht aus drei Geschützstellungen, die mit einer extra für den Munitionstransport angelegten Schmalspurbahn verbunden sind. Die Außenanlagen sind frei zugänglich, während das Museumsgebäude einen (kostenpflichtigen) Zugang zum Inneren einer Geschützstellung bietet, in der zahlreiche Räume rekonstruiert wurden. Zudem gibt es in diesen Bunkersnlagen wie im angrenzenden Museumsgebäude sehr ausführliche Informationen zu den Kriegsjahren in Dänemark, zur Entwicklung und Ausbau des Atlantikwalls in Dänemark und zum Leben in den Bunkern. Nicht nur Militärinteressierte wird es hierher ziehen; das Museum ist außerdem ein klassisches Pilgerziel für Olsenbandefans, da hier und in der Umgebung 1971 der Film "Die Olsenbande fährt nach Jütland" gedreht wurde. Im Gegensatz zum Film sind die Geschützstellungen nicht mit den Bunkeranlagen am Strand verbunden. Diese Bunker lassen sich auch begehen (gute Taschenlampe mitbringen), sie sind ganzjährig frei zugänglich.
Neben dem Bunkermuseum finden sich rund um Hanstholm zahlreiche weitere Bunkeranlagen, die frei zugänglich sind, z.T. weiter im Landesinneren, wie die Bunker südlich der Stadt, aber auch direkt an der Wasserlinie oder zum Teil auch vom Wasser überspült wie an den Nordstränden der Stadt.
