Travel report
Today I said goodbye to Poland and hello to Germany, which was going to be my home for the next four weeks. The Emperor's bath of Ahlbeck looked distinguished, and I went out on the stately pier with a large restauran. After it one seaside resort followed the next. Everything loked somewhat richer and mor pompous than in Poland. The trail ran beautifully through large forests, but there were some steep climbs and descents. After Zinnowitz all of this slowly disappeared and I approached the former military territory near Peenemuende on the northern tip of the island of Usedom. It had been totally locked off before the reunification of Germany. Today it's a huge outdoor museum, which can be visited. On top of that there is a big exhibition about the beginning of rocket science in the former power station from the nazi period. Astonishing, what was put into place in order to produce military rockets during World War II. This production caused enormous casualties, mostly in underground production sites. At these a lot more people were killed, than in the attacks with these rockets, called V-1 and V-2 in Allied cities. The camp site was a special one. It is run by the marina and is placed on the very edge of the mouth of the wide river Peene. And it was very windy out there.
