Cycle Tour Lake Flemhude

Today I rise early and am on the road at 10 o'clock in order to make my train at Padborg, seven hours and 84 km later. Again I crossed the Kiel canal at Sehestedt and then biked halfway round Lake Witten before I had lunch facing Lake Bisten. Afterwards some altitude meters challenged me in the Huetten hills, before I approached Schleswig. On my way I climbed The King's Hill near Selk. Here a fierce battle went on in the winter of 1864, which made the Danes finally abandon the ancient defense line of Dannevirke/Danewerk and retreat northbound. It was the Austrians, who had taught us a lesson.

I, on the other hand, enjoyed life at a café in nearby Schleswig outside the palace of Gottorf and its baroque garden with the globe house, treating myself with a large ice coffee. By way of Idstedt, Suederschmedeby and Oeversee I reached Flensburg's southern suburb of Weiche. I quickly passed on to Harrislee, where I purchased a bottle of wheat beer at "Mummy" Poetzsch. I emptied it with great desire on the station of Padborg before my train ride home, this time with an interchange at Lunderskov.
