Travel report
The road back to the canal was almost car-free on this Sunday morning. The rows of plane trees on both sides immediately accompanied us again. A good 30 kilometers we cycled on the paved bike path along the canal. Of the few villages next to the canal, we only perceived little. Due to the changing light incidence changed the mood.

A little way behind Buzet-sur-Baïse we made a short detour to the EuroVelo 3. After about one kilometer we reached the old church of Calezun. The small Romanesque church from the 11th century makes a rundown impression, but conveys very well an impression of the typical church style in the area.
Back on the canal, the visual impression was repeated. However, the tree species change. Oak trees now occasionally lined the canal instead of the plane trees. Or other tree species and tree-free pieces occured.

Then we came to the canal bridge at Agen. On a length of 580 meters canal bridge, completed 1840, leads over the Garonne and their banks. At the end of the bridge we turned off the canal into the old town of Agen. After a short break in a café we visited the Cathédrale Saint-Caprais. In particular, the painting of the church has impressed. Otherwise we could not discover sights or worth mentioning in Agen.

In Moissac we immediately found a place to stay. A few meters from the canal lies a Chambres d'Hôtes, which has been adapted to pilgrims. We had to carry the bicycles through the house and to place them in a room behind the house.

Since the monastery is only open until 6 pm, we went in bike clothes for inspection. Moissac proved to be a very clean and neatly arranged place. Through the narrow main street we walked directly to the church portal of the monastery. This was impressive from afar. First we took a look inside the monastery church. Walls and ceiling are painted. In the front part of the church preparation for a gospel concert in the evening was in place, in the back the sisters prepared their evening devotion.

A little way next to the church is the entrance to the famous cloister. As cyclists we came in for a reduced price. Through a lobby we reached the cloister. The roof of the cloister is supported by 78 columns with capitals and nine columns with marble panels depicting the apostles. The outer walls are created in typical red brick. Completed over 900 years ago, the whole thing still has a very impressive look today.

We had dinner on the square in front of the monastery. It seemed that only locals sat around us. The food (big salad and cassoulet) and the wine were very tasty.
