Vom Hotel sind es nur wenige Meter zurück zum Enztal-Radweg. Der verläuft entlang des Flusstales mal auf oder neben der Landstraße, mal auf Nebenstraßen oder Wirtschaftswegen, hat aber durchgängig eine gute Oberfläche. Dabei führt er außerhalb der kleinen Ortschaften durch Wiesen und Felder, kurze Stücke auch durch Wald. Das Tal wird zunehmend weiter.

In Holsthum mündet die Enz in die Prüm. Hier endet der Enztal-Radweg und wie setzen unsere Fahret auf dem Prümtal-Radweg fort.

Zwischen Holsthum und Prümzurlay radeln wir an einigen Hopfenfeldern vorbei, auf denen der Hopfen für die Bitburger Brauerei wächst.

Im Wald hinter Prümzurlay wären wir fast an den Irreler Wasserfällen vorbeigeradelt. Zu unscheinbar war das Schild. Wir stellen unsere Räder neben dem Radweg ab und laufen die paar Meter bis zum Ufer. Der Anblick ist jedoch enttäuschend. Die Prüm führt wenig Wasser, das Tal ist verwüstet. Wie wir später gelesen haben sind durch das Hochwasser von Juli 2021 die Felsblöcke so verschoben worden, dass die Stromschnellen zum Großteil nicht mehr existieren. Auch wurde die Holzbrücke über die Stromschnellen komplett zerstört.

In Irrel nutzen wir einen Abstecher in den Ortskern zu Einkäufen.

Ab der Irreler Mühle bis vor Minden sind wir dann wieder einmal auf einer Bahntrasse unterwegs.

In Minden beginnt der Abstecher nach Echternach. Auf dem Sauer-Radweg radeln wir unterhalb der Straße bis an den Ortsrand von Echternach. Ein paar Straßen weiter sind wir an der Basilika. Es ist das einzige Gebäude der ehemaligen Reichsabtei, das besichtigt werden kann.

Am südlichen Ufer der Sauer entlang fahren wir weiter. Der Radweg verläuft immer getrennt vom motorisierten Verkehr. Nur an einer kurzen Umleitungsstrecke trifft dies nicht zu. In Wasserbillig, kurz vor der Mündung der Sauer in die Mosel, legen wir unsere Vesperpause ein. Eine Bank direkt am Flussufer lädt dazu ein.

Von Mertert bis Wellen verläuft der Radweg zu großen Teilen weniger schön entlang der Industrie- und Gewerbegebiete oder neben vielbefahrenen Straßen. Erst nachdem wir hinter Wellen auf dem Streifen zwischen Mosel und Bahnstrecke unterwegs sind, haben wir wieder schöne Ausblicke und Ruhe. So bleibt es dann im Wesentlichen, bis wir in Nittel vom Mosel-Radweg abbiegen und einen knappen Kilometer in den Ort hinein zu unserem Hotel fahren.

Unsere Fahrräder bekommen einen Platz in einem abgeschlossenen Abstellraum. Wir beziehen ein schönes Zimmer im ersten Stock, werden aber in der Nacht erheblich von den auf der Straße vorbeifahrenden Fahrzeugen gestört.
